Our complaints policy
We are committed to providing a high-quality legal service to all our clients. When something goes wrong, we need you to tell us about it. This will enable us to investigate the matter and do our best to resolve things satisfactorily. It will also help us to improve our standards.
Our complaints procedure
If you have a complaint, please contact Amer Bilbeisi, our Complaints Manager. You can write to him at Silvine Law, 16 High Holborn, London WC1V 6BX. Alternatively he can be emailed on info@silvinelaw.com. If we have to change any of the people responsible or any of the timescales set out below, we will let you know and explain why.
What will happen next?
The Legal Ombudsman
If you are a member of the public, very small business, charity, club or Trust you will have the right to complain to the Legal Ombudsman at the conclusion of our complaint process. The legal Ombudsman gives us a maximum of eight weeks to resolve your complaint. Once the eight week period has passed the Legal Ombudsman will normally accept the complaint for investigation even if it has not been fully dealt with by us.
The Legal Ombudsman will look at your complaint independently and it will not affect how we handle your case.
Before accepting a complaint for investigation, the Legal Ombudsman will check that you have tried to resolve your complaint with us first. If you have, then you must take your complaint to the
Legal Ombudsman:

Objecting to you bill(s)
If your complaint relates to fees you may be entitled to have them reviewed by the court by applying for an assessment of the bill under Part III of the Solicitors Act 1974. If you take advantage of this procedure within a month from the date of our invoice, your right to a detailed assessment is unconditional. If you delay beyond a month the court may impose conditions. Once a year has elapsed since the date of the bill you will lose the right to a detailed assessment unless there are special circumstances.
